Just about every photographer with an Instagram account these days has dreamt of Lofoten. The picturesque archipelago located somewhat north of the Arctic Circle is a great travel destination year-round. Since I (apparently) have a thing for going cold places in the winter, I decided to finally experience this place for myself. As I am writing this, I realize that I to this date never have had worse conditions on a trip. Snow, clouds and stormy weather dominated my time and I even lost a day due to a cancelled ferry because of the severe wind. One of my goals of the trip was to witness the aurora borealis as I had done a year before on the isle of Senja, but the weather definitely had other plans for me.
Being with only my feet as means of getting around, I only saw a fraction of Lofoten. I made the most of my time in the southernmost part, and as the pictures will tell, spending more time around the same place really makes you realize how drastically the weather changes.
